The kererū is one of New Zealand’s most recognisable native birds — heavy-set, calm, and quietly confident. This painting captures that distinctive presence perched among soft natural greens.

Layered acrylic brushwork was used to build depth and texture through the feathers, focusing on character rather than strict photorealism.

Originally painted as a 50 × 50 cm square acrylic artwork, the composition translates beautifully into print form while maintaining the calm, balanced feel of the original piece.
